Dear Community Members – We are asking if you or your company would like to support our organization, the Nor-Cal Guides and Sportsmen’s Association (NCGASA.org) with a donation to our 2nd annual Mad River Hatchery Steelhead Derby?
This Humboldt County hatchery steelhead fishing contest will be held from January 1 to March 31, 2021 during the North Coast’s winter steelhead run. An awards celebration will follow. Details to be announced at a later date due to Covid.
60 anglers registered and participated in our inaugural Derby. Men, women and youths signed up for the hatchery steelhead fishing contest either online or at our local tackle and sporting goods stores.
The 2020 Derby gave away more than $2,500 in prizes, tackle and gear to all our winning anglers and participants. The winning hatchery steelhead was measured at 35.75 inches and was caught by Richard Burrow. The youth prize went to Dylan Jimenez who caught a 28-inch hatchery steelhead. Every angler who attended to our Derby awards celebration at Six Rivers Brewery on March 7th went home with several donated items from our sponsors and partners. We can’t thank our 2020 Sponsors enough for all the great prizes they donated! All our anglers went home with something.
Part of the proceeds from this Derby go toward the Mad River Steelhead Stewards volunteer angler’s broodstock collection program in concert with the CA Dept. of Fish & Wildlife and the Mad River Hatchery.
Known as the “The Sportsmen’s Voice,” NCGASA is committed to fish habitat preservation and protecting our fisheries for future generations. The non-profit organization was founded in 1992 and the North Coast Region needs your help to bring more fish to your local rivers and ocean. How can you help NCGASA’s Mad River Steelhead Derby?
- Donate any amount of funds or product to our anglers. Prizes will be distributed to the registered anglers in raffles, winnings and giveaways throughout the Derby dates. Your donation will be featured on this website and on our social media pages.
What you’ll receive in return:
- Yearly business membership to NCGSA ($100 value and includes business link on our NCGASA.org website that receives more than 10,000 hits a day)
- Your business logo on promotional flyer and materials, posters, signs, etc
- Display banner and/or marketing materials at the awards ceremony
